Product Descriptions

Class II (Fill Sand)

Screened sand. Has stones in it that are usually 3/8" or smaller. Some clay. Compacts well.
Less than 7% silt.

2NS Sand

Washed screened sand, does not compact well. Used for concrete, asphalt and sewer systems.
Less than 3% silt.

Mason Sand

Washed clean sand. Very fine, no small stones, ¼ inch minus. Similar to beach sand. Used for masonry, under swimming pools, sand boxes, and volleyball courts..

Bedding Sand

Washed clean sand. Very fine. Used by farmers.

1/4" Manufactured Sand

1/4’’ crushed stone with fines.

3/8 (31-A MOD)

3/8’’ Clean crushed stone.

31-A W/Dust

3/8" crushed stone with fines (crusher dust). Can be used for pathways, fill post holes. Compacts well if there is moisture in product.

21AA

1” crushed stone down to fines. Makes excellent driveway and parking lot material. After the material has been spread and whetted, the fines wash down and bind the stone together. After it rains the stone stands out well.

22A (Stabilized Gravel)

1” crushed stone with a mixture of sand, and clay. Clay content is normally 4-8%. Compacts very well. Good for starting a new driveway and parking lots.
Works well for filling pot holes in gravel driveways. 21AA can be used to top a driveway already established with the 22A.

23A

Same as 22A but has a higher clay percentage, 9-16%. The road commissions use it for the shoulder of the roads.

1/2"

Clean crushed stone. The stone has been washed before being crushed and screened. May have some dust on it. Becomes clean after a good rain.  Can be used on driveways

3/4"

Clean crushed stone. Same description as ½" just a larger size. Can be used for the same purposes as ½".

1" ( 9A)

¾-1” Clean crushed stone. Same description and purposes as ½”, just a larger size.

1 ½” (9AL)

SOLD OUT  ¾”-1 ½” Clean crushed stone. Same description as ½”.

Pea Stone

3/8”-1/4” washed round stone. Used for concrete and asphalt. Drains very well. Can be used as a footing drainage layer and radon gas systems collection.

6A

3/8”-1” washed stone. Can be round and or crushed. The Aggregate Resources and 4th street mines have about 50% crush stone in their 6A. The Quincy and Midway mine has round. Used for concrete. Works well for drain fields and septic tanks.

5/8"

3/8”-5/8” washed round stone. Used for concrete, asphalt and roofing (ASTM roofing stone)

3/4"-1 ½"

Also called river rock or landscape stone. It is a round washed stone. Can be used for drain fields and septic systems.  Looks great for landscaping.

Rip Rap

6-14” stone. Usually round. Fairly clean, may have some dirt stuck to it. Used for large drainage systems.

Boulders

Large rocks, mostly clean, differ in size and color. Used for landscaping and retaining walls. Call gravel pit for availability.

Products may differ from mine site to mine site. Ex-color and sharpness of crushed stones.
